Varna region is ranking 38th in the world as a suitable destination for digital nomads
Varna Region, which is a pilot under the European digital nomads (EDIN) project, is ranked one of the top places suitable for digital nomads according to the largest global community. This is Nomads.com, which unites over 37,000 digital nomads living and traveling around the world since 2014. The website has information on the most important things digital nomads need when choosing a place to live. This includes cost of living, internet speed, how social a city is, as well as details like average annual temperatures, air quality, and whether the city is generally safe. The city rankings on the platform are constantly changing, and all data is refreshed in real time based on user input.
In recent years, Bulgaria has clearly become an attractive destination for digital nomads, due to the relatively low cost of living compared to other countries, the fast internet, and the convenience that some cities offer. But which cities in the country are the most suitable for people who practice this way of working?
We collected information from the largest global community, which has information on over 1000 cities in the world. We found three Bulgarian cities in the ranking, namely Varna, Burgas and the capital – Sofia.
To date, Varna ranks 38th in the world and first among Bulgarian representatives, as in addition to the above-mentioned assessments, the city’s advantages are considered to be good beaches, warm weather and good air quality. Among the shortcomings, however, are poor transport links and the language barrier. As well as socialization.
It is precisely on these characteristics that the UBBSLA team is working when launching and preparing the Varna Regional Report. The development of this report is an ongoing process that will identify technical issues and examples of good practice, as well as policy messages and possible local actions. With the right vision and implementation strategy, Varna can become a model for how cities integrate digital nomads into their communities, fostering a shared future of prosperity and opportunity!
Stay tuned!
