Results of a survey conducted among young people in Europe about the consequences of the pandemic
Within the framework of the E-VOICE project, a survey was conducted to assess the impact of the pandemic on young people, focusing on the following 4 areas: educational poverty, bad habits, mental health and unemployment. The anonymous survey examines the mental and psychological state of young people from 7 European countries (Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, Belgium and France), as well as the support they received from state and municipal institutions during and after the pandemic.
The study involved 267 young people aged 15 to 29, from Italy (57.68%), Romania (16.65%), Bulgaria (9.36%), Croatia (4.49%) and Spain (4.12%). 65.92% of respondents were female, 31.09% had a master’s degree or higher and 44.94% were workers, 38.58% lived in cities (between 10,000 and 100,000 inhabitants) and 31.46% in villages (between 1,000 and 10,000 inhabitants).

>>> Volunteering: 12.73 % stopped doing it, 10.49 % started with emergency
>>> Psychological violence: 16.10% experienced it sometimes, 3% always
>>> Physical violence: 8.99 % experienced it sometimes, 3.75 % always
>>> Eating disorders (29.21 %), depression (37.45 %), self-harm (7.12 %), substance use (8.99 %), alcohol abuse (14.61 %), video game abuse (23.97 %), panic attacks (30.71 %), insomnia (35.58 %), compulsive online shopping (23.60 %)
>>> Unemployment: 31.84 % lost their job with Covid, most resumed but changed jobs, 15.73 % could no longer find work. 28.09 % benefited from social shock absorbers and 22.10 % received help from public institutions.
