Invited by the National Institute of Hydrology and Meteorology – Varna, UBBSLA officially presented HERMES BG1
The deployed Oceanographic station HERMES BG1 in the Varna Bay and the first steps in gathering data on different parameters of the sea waves were officially presented to key stakeholders and decision makers in Varna
Invited by the National Institute of Hydrology and Meteorology – Varna branch (NIMH-Varna), today, 26.07.2019 in the “Panorama” hall of Hotel “Dimyat”, Mr. Boyan Savov, manager of the company provided installation and post-service of the Oceanographic station in Bulgaria, presented the progress of the project “HERMES – A HarmonizEd fRamework to Mitigate coastal EroSion promoting ICZM protocol implementation”.
Mr. Savov pictured the complete deployment process for HERMES BG1 in the Varna Bay, the functionality and operational capacity of the oceanographic station, as well as access to the online PPGIS platform (http://www.dbi0.com/login.php).
Meanwhile, Mr. Ivan Ivanov, Branch Director of NIMH-Varna presented a project for building a network of anchored meteorological buoys on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. So far, the work of the NIMH-Varna is related to the study of the technique that will have to be purchased. The purpose of this network is to carry out instrumental research in the sea that provide meteorological information and information on the state of the sea surface’s agility, sea currents, salinity, transparency, etc. elements. The project idea is to build a monitoring system that is on land, from meteorological, climatic, hydro-logical and hydro-geological stations. The existence of the sea is directly related to the meteorological conditions, given a review of the scientific ocean and meteorology. The data will be collected online and will be used to build infrastructure projects along the coast, starting from the way in which action cannot be taken on relevant weather information, sea excitement, temperature, etc.
The information meeting today, was a great opportunity to establish a sustainable relationship between the two institutions – UBBSLA and NIMH-Varna, and also to create a synergy between the two projects related to monitoring the Black Sea.
